Byron Christopher Williams is an Italian-American visual artist based in Perugia, Italy. Working primarily with acrylic and mixed media, his practice explores contrasts between the figurative and the abstract, the sacred and the sacrilegious.
Born in Perugia and raised primarily in the United States, Byron came to art through an unconventional path. With an academic background in genetics, he began painting while pursuing graduate research in the sciences. What began as a personal creative outlet gradually developed into an independent artistic practice, shaped by both scientific curiosity and an intuitive approach to image making.
His work combines recognizable forms with fractured geometries, raw textures, layered surfaces, and areas of abstraction. Rather than treating fragmentation as destruction, Byron uses it as a way of constructing images as individual forms remain distinct while simultaneously becoming part of a larger whole. This tension reflects a broader interest in duality, transformation, and the coexistence of order and chaos.
After living and traveling extensively between the United States, Latin America, and Europe, Byron returned to Perugia, where he now maintains his studio and continues to develop his practice. His recent work has been presented in exhibitions and contemporary art initiatives throughout Umbria.
